Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Post-Credits Scenes That Wouldn’t Actually Suck

2. A Set-Up For Episode VIII

A few months ago, setting up Episode VIII (which remains untitled as of yet) would have been unthinkable. Little was (and still is, really) known about Rian Johnson's second film of the third Star Wars trilogy. However, suddenly reports surfaced that some advanced shooting was already underway. Mark Hamill was involved. Benecio Del Toro is also signed on to the picture, though it's not clear in what role. In any case, while once unlikely, there is a chance that Episode VIII could be tied in to The Force Awakens with a post-credits scene. Certainly, this would make the most sense, directly linking the two chapters together. Whatever the MacGuffin of the next chapter will be, this would be the time to introduce it. However, there's one little factor that gets in the way - the next film in the Star Wars universe is not a direct sequel to The Force Awakens.
