Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Questions The Trailer Didn't Answer

2. What€™s Leia So Upset About?

Carrie Fisher€™s face is contorted into a really intense kind of misery. That€™s not the face of a princess who€™s just come out of the shops to find that she€™s got a speeding ticket on her land-speeder; that€™s real dread and grief. We can, of course, speculate as wildly as we want, but the fact she€™s grabbing Han might point to something terrible having happened to Luke and/or Rey (it€™s widely held that Rey is likely to be Han and Leia€™s daughter, as there€™s that scrap of voiceover in which Luke details his family€™s connection with the Force, before adding €œ€and you have that power too€ in the second teaser trailer). Or, seeing as they€™re at a spaceport, it might well be just that having seen the new heroes€™ ship leave to do some derring-do she€™s consumed with sadness that she€™s not quite as springy a chicken as she once was, and pain over the necessity of handing over the reins to the young bucks having been so integral to the welfare of the galaxy in the past. She€™s always been one for getting stuck in when the going gets rough, so for Leia the simple realisation of her own encroaching mortality might be the hardest thing to bear.
