Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Batsh*t Crazy Theories About Rey's Parents

5. She's Obi-Wan Kenobi's Grandaughter

As outlandish as this one may be, I can't help but sort of like it. The main reason for that is the fact that we simply have no idea what Obi-Wan got up to for all those years on Tatooine, so the reveal that Rey is related to him would kick the door wide open for Ewan McGregor (who lent his voice to Rey's vision) to take on a leading role in the long rumoured solo movie for the character which would likely further explore his isolation. So, while there's no reason to think that Obi-Wan couldn't have found love during that period of his life, there are still a lot of problems with this particular theory. Assuming he broke his Jedi vows like Anakin before him (which does seem somewhat unlikely when you really think about it), where had his family vanished to by the time he had become known as the hermit Ben Kenobi and the events of A New Hope kicked off? While there do appear to be some links between Rey and Obi-Wan - her using a similar mind trick, the English accent, and his voice in her visions - making these two family feels like a forced reveal rather than one which would come across as believable. Were Obi-Wan's children also Force sensitive? If so, why would they abandon Rey on Jakku? This raises more questions than any solo movie could ever hope to answer!

Josh Wilding hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
