Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Batsh*t Crazy Theories About Rey's Parents

6. She's Han And Leia's Secret Daughter

While watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I can't deny that I kept waiting for the reveal that Rey was Han and Leia's daughter. There was the Millennium Falcon, the seemingly meaningful looks between her and Han, and him ultimately offering her a job, but it quickly became apparent that the movie wasn't taking things with her story in that direction. However, many remain convinced that this reveal is coming in Episode VIII. The prevailing theory is that Han and Leia hid Rey on Jakku to protect her from the influence of her brother Ben (which somewhat mirrors the EU stories of Jacen and Jaina). However, not once in the movie do these two make any mention of a second child, and while this could be made to work, it feels like the moment has already passed. The biggest problem here is the fact that Han is now dead. Having Rey learn that he was her father might make future confrontations with Kylo Ren more personal, but this revelation should have come in The Force Awakens as it would have added even more emotional weight to their battle outside the Starkiller Base. To reveal it now would make it feel like an afterthought, and there's not enough solid evidence to support this.
