Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Batsh*t Crazy Theories About Rey's Parents

4. She's Luke Skywalker's Secret Daughter

In fairness, there are a few signs which do appear to point to Rey being a Skywalker. She's a masterful pilot, clearly very strong with the Force, and has some sort of connection to Anakin and Luke's old lightsaber, but does that mean she's Luke's secret daughter? Fans have pointed out that key notes from Luke's themes from A New Hope play during her scenes, while there are a lot of obvious parallels in their respective stories. However, those similarities more than likely come as a result of the very deliberate ways J.J. Abrams decided to pay homage to the first Star Wars movie, while Luke being Rey's father begs the question of who her mother is and where she's since vanished to. Perhaps she was among those Kylo Ren murdered, but Rey believes Luke was a myth and was old enough to know who her father was when she was left on Jakku. Doesn't add up, does it? It's at this point that we get into crazy theories about her mind being wiped and claims that the look on Luke's face at the end of The Force Awakens came as a result of him recognising his only daughter. As nice as it is to think that the Skywalker lineage lives on through Rey, there are a lot of reasons this just doesn't work, and Rian Johnson would have his work cut out for him to help this make any sort of sense in Episode VIII!
