7. Emperor Palpatine Managed To Cheat Death After All

The Emperor used the then-uncertain promise of teaching Anakin Skywalker how to cheat death to manipulate him into turning to the Dark Side in Revenge Of The Sith, so what if Palpatine really did discover those secrets in the years which followed? The Expanded Universe delved into that through the use of clones, and seeing as the The Force Awakens actually dropped a mention of a Clone Army, this one is worth considering - could he be Snoke. Unfortunately, the whole thing is also rather silly. Not only was Palpatine thrown down a giant shaft, but the facility where that happened in (the Death Star II) exploded only minutes later. Plus, if he was resurrected as a clone, why wouldn't he return to his position as the leader of the Empire, and even more important than that, why does he now look and sound completely different? With that in mind, this theory makes no sense. Still, it's the fact that Snoke resembles some of Ralph McQuarrie's original concept art for The Emperor which has inspired this theory, and so some fans are now determined to find a link between the two characters. There's obviously a pretty good chance of some sort of tie there, but a familial one - or them being the same freaking person - almost certainly isn't it, no matter what went down in the EU stories.
