4. A Time Travelling Kylo Ren
If you really want Star Wars to jump the shark, then going this route would do the trick. Time travel isn't something which has ever factored into these movies, and while Star Trek certainly managed to use it to great effect back in 2009, it's hard to say if it really has any sort of place in the Star Wars Universe. Some fans certainly seem to think it would work anyway, because they believe that Snoke is actually... Kylo Ren?! The fact that Rey slashed Kylo across the face with her lightsaber seems to be what has inspired this surprisingly popular theory, with the belief being that Snoke is communicating with his younger self in order to push him further into the Dark Side and presumably make him more powerful than he ever was. Confused yet? This doesn't make a lick of sense, and would be one of the most baffling swerves in the franchise's history. If this new Star Wars trilogy plans to keep the parallels to the original movies going in the next two instalments, then this theory becoming a reality means we'll be getting a much lamer version of the "Luke, I am your father!" scene when Kylo and Snoke comes face to face, and the latter reveals that, "Ben, I am you!" Er, yeah, that doesn't have anywhere near the same ring to it, and would be a ridiculous and very daft reveal.
