Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Biggest Reveals From Force Friday
3. Finn Speaks (In An American Accent)
With the exception of two voiceovers - "There has been an awakening..." and "The Force is strong in my family..." - the teasers for The Force Awakens have been extremely light on talking, with only Han and Chewie's homecoming the only actual piece of movie dialogue we get to see delivered. Now, thanks to Force Friday and IGN, we get to hear just what John Boyega's Finn will sound like, and it confirms that the British actor will be using an American accent in the film. It's hardly uncommon for this to happen, and will presumably make more sense in the Star Wars world, and for a global audience. More important are the lines we get to hear, which include: "The name's Finn and I'm in charge now" "We go back to Jakku, we die" "Stay low and put up the shields" "We need cover - quick!" "FS2187" "I don't...know what...to do!" "I never should have rescued you!" "Listen, I've had a pretty messed up day!" It's difficult to know what to make of these out-of-context, but a few possible takeaways are that he's a natural leader who assumes that position, Jakku is very dangerous and the poor guy is in for a pretty rough ride.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
