Someone is almost certainly going to die in The Force Awakens. There have been countless rumours, and then there was that shot in the trailer of Rey crying over what may or may not be a dead body. While it's widely believed that it'll be Han who passes away in this one, other theories point to it being Luke Skywalker. Consider George Lucas' oh so wise words discussing his Star Wars trilogies: "It's like poetry. They rhyme." So, in Episode I, you have Qui-Gon Jinn, the master, dying and his pupil, Obi-Wan, surviving. Fast forward (or, er, go back) to Episode IV, and there's Obi-Wan, now the master, killed by one of his students, and his death helps allow his new one, Luke, to live. So, Episode VII, Luke has now taken on the Obi-Wan role. He'll be training the new Jedi (smart money's on Rey, but could also be Poe, or basically anyone but the one good guy we've seen wielding a lightsaber), and will ultimately sacrifice himself in order to save them, thus passing on the torch to the new generation. NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
