2. He Is Kylo Ren

Oh, OK, what if Luke actually WAS in the trailer. And no, I'm not talking about the hand on Artoo, but the guy in the mask. Yes, Kylo Ren is really Luke Skywalker. Wait, what?! This theory has been perhaps the biggest since the final trailer aired, despite the evidence to the contrary. Let's ignore the fact that Adam Driver has been confirmed as being Kylo Ren, that there are images of him on set without his mask, that he's not wearing the mask in the trailer's final shot and you can clearly see it's him, that this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and examine why this could be true. Well, we don't see Luke, that's a given. He's talking to Vader's mask, and Luke would know the whereabouts of that and have cause to do so. Mark Hamill has second billing, but is hardly in the film. Kylo can wield a lightsaber and appears to use the Force, but isn't a Sith. And Abrams has used character fake-outs before, such as his terribly disguised Cumberbatch isn't Khan twist for Stark Trek Into Darkness. Because this is the same thing. Yeah, Luke is Kylo Ren. OK then.
