Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Scenes The Movie Desperately Needed
2. Rey Has An Actual Conversation With Leia
Another lacklustre part of the movie that could have been improved by way of an extra scene? How about the fact that Leia and Rey don't really share any meaty scenes together? That they're only on-screen at the same time for, like, twelve seconds, but the implication when Rey departs is that they're really close. Granted, Rey is captured before Finn and Han head back to the Resistance Base, so they missed out on any conversation potential there, but there were other times where a proper chat might've been possible - especially towards the end of the film. The only moments that Rey and Leia share in The Force Awakens are incredibly lacklustre; nothing substantial or memorable in any way. When she arrives back at the base after the destruction of the Starkiller Base, the two hug (which is a bit weird, all things considered, since they've never met) and later, before Rey leaves, Leia says "May the Force be with you." It's enough to make you wonder whether Abrams has a screw loose somewhere. Because, really, there should have been a scene in the film in which Leia and Rey actually sat down to talk about everything - Luke, the death of Han, everything that happened with Kylo Ren. It's not enough to just assume that it all happened off-screen - fans want to see it playing out! It's interesting! What was J.J. Abrams so afraid of in this respect, huh?
