Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Things You Need To Know About The New Lightsaber

1. Plasma Quality

In the clip of the new Sith in the forest, the plasma seems to be more unstable, giving off a particularly violent impression. This could be an indication of the character that wields it, with the lightsaber reflecting the violent and unstable nature of the new Sith. That would certainly fit into the ideas about Revan the Butcher discussed earlier. Some people are also suggesting that the appearance may have something to do with the quality of the crystal being used - perhaps they have become rare, thus making lightsabers a less common weapon in the universe? It would certainly make them that bit more interesting and noteworthy. In the Star Wars universe, Sith lightsabers are made using synthetic crystals rather than the natural Adegan and Ilum crystals used by the Jedi. As a result of their arteficial nature, the crystals feature the widely recognised red coloration fans are accustomed to. Working on the earlier point about it being an earlier model, perhaps the crystal is also an old one, hence the ragged and unstable appearance? What are your thoughts on the new Sith lightsaber? Love or loathe it? Let us know in the comments!
