Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer - 10 Major Things We Learnt

2. Rey Is The 'New Luke'

Finn may have the lightsaber, but it's Daisy Ridley's Rey who is shaping up to be not only the true lead of this film, but this trilogy's equivalent of Luke Skywalker. She responds "no one" when Maz Katana asks who she is, and we have a couple of shots of her all alone (or just with an astromech for company) on the desert planet of Jakku that just scream Luke in A New Hope, in particular the way she looks longingly up into the sky at the spaceship leaving this world behind. She obviously has dreams of leaving it behind for better things, and will then find herself thrust into more action that she could have ever imagined. It has long been assumed that there's much more to the character than we've been told so far, just the fact we don't know her actual or full name for a start, and that idea is only reinforced here. It'll all make even more sense come the end of the film, when Rey is revealed to be the true new Force-sensitive hero (c'mon, she has to be).
