6. Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o)

Why She Could Live: Because from the little that's known about Maz Kanata, that she's a cool-looking pirate who helps provide the Rebels with temporary refuge, she seems like the sort of potentially iconic character who should have repeat appearances in the franchise. Why She Could Die: That said, Abrams may not want to focus too much on fully CGI characters (another reason why Serkis' similarly mo-capped character might not be sticking around), considering the overwhelming criticism in previous movies for the likes of Jar Jar Binks. Also, rumours suggest that after Kanata helps the heroes, her castle or cave dwelling is attacked by the First Order, making it pretty likely that she's killed in the raid, possibly while helping everyone else escape. Prediction: Dies, but in a heroic and (hopefully) bada** way.
