Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 10 Amazing Comics To Read While You Wait
8. Star Wars
Jason Aaron is another of Marvel's greatest talents, so it's no surprise that he was placed on the company's flagship Star Wars title.
Aaron's series - like Gillen's - takes place in the relatively uncharted period between episodes IV and V. In it, we see Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Artoo, and C-3PO as they build on the successful destruction of the Death Star and take the fight to the Empire. It's great fun, and while some interactions between Luke and Vader somewhat ruin a lot of what we saw in Episode V, it's a minor flaw in an otherwise exemplary series.
Aaron really has a grasp on what readers want to see in a Star Wars title, and imbues the series with a key sense of adventure and action whilst maintaining an eye for melodrama. Kieron Gillen would later take over the book, but it continues to impress, depicting stories both before and during the Original Trilogy with characters like Yoda and Obi-Wan each getting a starring role.
It's the flagship book for a reason, and if you're going to start with any Marvel comic situated in a galaxy far, far away, there are few better poised to make that introduction.
