1. Rey Becomes A Gray Jedi

The Rumour: Though Rey is seemingly on course to eventually become a Jedi Master, even while some theories suggest she might become a Sith Lord instead, what if she ends up as something else entirely?

The theory argues that Rey will in fact become a "Gray Jedi", a concept originated from the Expanded Universe, where some Force users are able to fleet between the Light and Dark Sides at will, while refuting the more formal aspects of both sides, such as organised religion and bureaucracy (the Jedi Council, for instance).

Considering that Luke wants the Jedi to end, could the Jedi Order not end up reborn at the end of the movie with the creation of the new Star Wars canon's first Gray Jedi? It'd certainly be an interesting way to muddy the rather simplistic morality of light vs. dark that has persisted in the franchise ever since its creation.

The Truth: This is all nonsense, basically. A neat idea perhaps, but Rey is the last Jedi standing by the end of the movie, and looks set to uphold the more traditional aspects of the Jedi Order moving forward.

It's easy to appreciate why Lucasfilm might be nervous about introducing EU elements into these films, but this actually could've been a pretty interesting way to make Rey stand out from Luke.
