The Question: The movie's final scene features the stable boy from Canto Bight sweeping up, demonstrating a quick display of the Force and staring up to the stars in wonder. Are we going to see this Force-sensitive chap again in the future?

The Likely Answer: In Episode IX? Don't count on it, unless the sequel has a significant time jump, because we all know how kids and the Force don't exactly jive well together.

Though the boy basically serves to extend the film's message that family ties mean squat and special people can emerge from unexpected places, there is one possible way the kid could show up in a future Star Wars movie.

What if the kid is being set up to play the lead in Rian Johnson's planned trilogy of tangential Star Wars films? It would allow this trilogy to have a cursory link to Episodes VII-IX, but also venture out on its own and follow another young Jedi as he seeks to find his place in the world.

It's more likely the boy serves as a simple metaphor for the universe and nothing else, but we'll see.
