Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 31 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See

12. Rey's Floating Rocks

Rey is seen using her Force powers twice throughout the movie to float rocks. Early on, Luke helps her to levitate some smaller rocks on Ahch-To, and in the film's climax, she uses her power to float a number of large rocks blocking the secret passage of the Resistance base.

This is clearly a reference to rock levitation being a core facet of Jedi training, and something Luke himself was seen doing when being trained by Yoda. That Rey can effortlessly lift numerous big rocks by the end of the movie is proof of just how far she's come.

11. RIP Admiral Ackbar

One of the more disappointing moments in The Last Jedi is that much-loved Mon Calamiri Admiral Ackbar gets an off-screen death, being blown to smithereens along with the rest of the crew of the Raddus...except for General Leia, of course.

Ackbar's death unintentionally mirrors real-life, however, as Erik Bauersfeld, who voiced the character in both Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, passed away while The Last Jedi was shooting.

Bauersfield was seemingly never intended to have a voice role in the movie, though, so while it might seem like Ackbar was killed off in order to "retire" the character following the actor's death, it was actually a total coincidence.
