Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 31 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See

Though The Last Jedi does a pretty good job of not just rehashing The Empire Strikes Back's greatest hits, it does feature a sequence pretty similar to Luke's sojourn into the Dark Side Cave.

In Empire, Luke famously cuts down a vision of Darth Vader, only to see his own face staring back at him within the helmet.

The Last Jedi has Rey jump into a pit on Ahch-To, which brings her to a secluded cave-like area, where she encounters hundreds of versions of herself, each replicating her movement and speech with a slight delay.

Rey eventually reaches the front of line and finds a mirror, which she believes will reveal the identity of parents, but ultimately, it just reflects her own face back at her.

21. Rey Saved The Jedi Books

Shortly after arriving on Ahch-To, Rey takes an interest in the various Jedi texts contained inside the island makeshift library.

However, after Yoda sets the library on fire and tells Luke, "There's nothing in there she doesn't already possess", it seems that the books are lost forever.

However, the very end of the movie fleetingly reveals that Rey did in fact remove the books before Yoda's pyromaniac stunt: they're actually visible on the Millennium Falcon as Finn cares for an unconscious Rose.

This is an especially fun Easter egg as it shows that Yoda hasn't lost any of his demented sense of humour: there really wasn't anything in the library Rey didn't already possess, and so Yoda effectively trolled Luke in order to make sure he stepped up to help Rey. Classic Yoda.
