Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 6 Possible Meanings Behind The New Title
1. The Sith Will Take Over Again
If we listen to criticisms that The Force Awakens was essentially a remake of A New Hope, then we might already know what to expect from The Last Jedi if it follows the blueprint of The Empire Strikes Back.
The Jedi could die out with Luke, and through Snoke and Kylo Ren, the Sith become the dominant power in the universe, setting the stage for good to triumph over evil in Episode IX. This would be an incredibly downbeat ending to The Last Jedi, which would in turn make the inevitable ending to this trilogy even more satisfying.
The reveal of the new title was accompanied with a red "Star Wars" logo as opposed to the usual yellow. Everyone associates the colour red with the Sith, so despite the title, we may be looking at the potential for a downer ending that has the Sith once more in the ascendency.
In addition, since we know so little about Snoke, and what Kylo Ren will do after killing his father, it would make sense for the film to focus more on the Dark Side before Episode IX focuses on the Light Side once more.
