Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 8 Crazy Fan Theories You Need To See

5. Kylo Ren Is Mind-Controlling Poe

This theory stems from a minor plot annoyance found in The Force Awakens; what happened to Poe Dameron after he crash-landed the TIE Fighter on Jakku?

Reddit user MichaelSilverV believes he has the answer.

He explains Poe's disappearance and sudden reappearance by proposing that he was captured by The First Order shortly after he crashed. The pilot was then subjected to an interrogation of sorts, during which Kylo Ren used his abilities to re-program Poe as a double agent.

Ignoring the obvious holes in this theory - like, why would Kylo Ren want his double agent to destroy his organisation's planet-sized superweapon - there are other bits of evidence that put it safely to bed.

Oscar Isaac himself has stated that Poe was initially meant to die in the first act of the movie, which explains his lack of screen time. Plus, the film's official novelization mentions that Poe was found by a Blarina scavenger, who took him to a nearby town where he was able to find his way back to the Resistance.
