Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 8 Crazy Fan Theories You Need To See

6. Rey Will Kill Luke

For those who think The Force Awakens began a trend of killing off all the 'old' Star Wars characters in order to allow the series to focus more on Rey, Finn, Poe and other newbies, the death of Luke Skywalker is already a foregone conclusion.

In fact, it's even a plausible conclusion. Actor Mark Hamill is 65 years of age, so just how many more taxing blockbuster movies does he have left in him?

However, for Rey herself to be the one who slays him does seem like a bit of a stretch. This scenario was proposed by Reddit user drewgarr, who predicts that Rey will become angry toward Luke after learning that he killed her parents, a revelation that leads to her killing him in a fit of rage.

The theory doesn't mention why Luke would want to kill Rey's parents in the first place and doesn't provide any hard evidence to support such a notion, and that's not the only problem with it.

We should remember that this is a business; Disney and LucasFilm want Rey to be a hero for a new generation, to sell action figures and an assortment of other merchandise, and to endure as long as Luke has. Would they really have her mercilessly slaughter one of the most iconic, beloved Star Wars characters, in cold blood?
