Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 8 Crazy Fan Theories You Need To See

2. Darth Maul Will Exact Revenge On The Jedi

The fan who posted this prediction (an aptly titled Reddit user called Theories_R_Us) is so confident they're right that they think their post will be removed by Disney's secret team of ninjas who prowl the depths of Reddit, but alas, six months later, the theory still stands.

The long and short of it is this: Darth Maul is returning in The Last Jedi (though he appeared to die in The Phantom Menace, in official Star Wars canon, he is still alive), and he's really quite angry. As we all would be if we were chopped in half.

The film will reveal that Snoke is actually Darth Maul, who is using Kylo Ren to help him exact revenge on the Jedi he hates with a burning passion. This all starts with Kylo killing Luke's Jedi trainees, and Maul's plan would undoubtedly go on to include the death of Master Skywalker himself.

The theory is a bit all over the place, with the creator referencing an Andy Serkis quote that the actor never actually said, as well as a line from the novelization of The Phantom Menace, a book that's hard to officially label as 'canon', since Disney discarded a lot of earlier work when they purchased LucasFilm.

A quote that Serkis did give, however, reads as follows (via EW):

"...he's a new character in this universe."

Yes, he could be lying, but that's the biggest piece of information we've been given regarding Snoke's identity.

For all intents and purposes, Darth Maul is dead in the movies (wouldn't Lucas have brought him back in Episode 2 or 3 otherwise?) but will surely remain a constant in the TV shows.
