Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer Reactions - 8 Ups & 2 Downs

1. "I've Got A Bad Feeling About This"

Everything from the brooding music to the ominous, loaded dialogue and shots of things exploding or falling apart suggests that the threat in The Last Jedi is being dialled up in exactly the way you'd want from a Star Wars middle sequel.

Even with the emotion gut-punch ending of The Force Awakens, it looks a lot like The Last Jedi is going to be an even more painful experience. Rey will be forced through tough training, Luke's wounds will be revealed and reopened, the Resistance will be attacked and devastated in its own backyard and Kylo Ren will presumably stride even further towards full Darkness. And that's not even to mention Chewie's no doubt awful grieving period for Han Solo...

And forgive me, but that's all great. After all, Star Wars films with unhappy endings are ALWAYS superior, and the darker material tends to give directors more of a chance to really show off. It shouldn't be absolutely unrelenting, but I'm definitely looking forward to an ordeal now.
