2. Why Is BB-8 With Rey On Tatooine?

The Rise of Skywalker ends with Rey burying the Skywalker lightsabers on Tatooine and brandishing her own new yellow lightsaber, before adopting the Skywalker namesake in their honour.

Even accepting the divisiveness of that creative decision, what's perhaps most weird about the scene is the presence of BB-8 with Rey, seeming to suggest that she has now taken custody of the loveable droid.

Except, BB-8 has been quite clearly established to be Poe's droid to which he has a distinct emotional attachment.

While it's possible Poe simply lent BB-8 to Rey for this mission, couldn't she get her own droid? Hasn't the poor thing earned a rest by this point?
