Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - 8 Burning Questions Left By The Trailer

5. Who's Repairing Kylo's Helmet?

In The Last Jedi, Kylo smashed his helmet to pieces in a fit of rage, shortly after being told by Snoke that he looked "ridiculous" while wearing it. Pretty harsh.

Young Ben Solo then went the rest of the film helmet-less, but in The Rise Of Skywalker's trailer, it's back, being re-assembled by someone with rather hairy hands.

So who might this be? How did they get a hold of the pieces of Kylo's helmet, considering they were last seen on Snoke's ship, which sustained heavy damage at the hands of Admiral Holdo? There isn't a lot to go on for this one, other than the fact that the person's skin appears to be quite pale, and it definitely looks like the hair is coming from their hands, and not their clothes.

As an aside, the idea of the helmet being repaired almost feels like a middle-finger to The Last Jedi, and director Rian Johnson. That movie spent almost its entire runtime attempting to subvert expectations, including killing Snoke, revealing Rey's parents were nobodies, and having Luke be responsible for Kylo's fall to the dark side.

The thing is, when he introduced these plot threads in The Force Awakens, Abrams probably didn't expect Johnson to take The Last Jedi in such a surprising direction. Rebuilding Kylo's helmet is almost like Abrams saying "okay, forget the last movie, now I'm going to show you what I originally had planned for these characters." It's him putting the pieces of the sequel trilogy back together.
