6. Kylo Ren = Darth Vader

Though there was the obvious potential for Kylo Ren to be nothing more than a shameless Darth Vader rip-off, The Force Awakens at least appeared to somewhat subvert this by making him into a Darth Vader fanboy, whose ultimate murder of his own father likely made him beyond redemption.

But sadly, The Rise of Skywalker awkwardly shoehorned a face turn for the character, by having him lured back to the Light Side and eventually giving up his life to save Rey.

Ultimately, the basic beats of his character arc are not at all dissimilar to that of Darth Vader: he's turned to the Dark Side, is eventually redeemed, but not before sacrificing himself for a loved one and then dying. Boo.
