Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Final Trailer Review - 8 Ups & 5 Downs
1. It Looks Stunning
You really have to hand it to JJ Abrams, he knows how to make Star Wars look not only like Star Wars but also look impossibly beautiful. Some of the shots in here suggest that while this is a bleak world potentially teetering on the edge of destruction or a fall into darkness, it is still full of wonder and visual treasure the likes of which we won't see anywhere else.
The world-building in Star Wars has always been an integral part of the franchise's character and Abrams clearly understands as much. We're going to new worlds here - or at least undiscovered parts of familiar ones - as well as revisiting others we've seen before and it looks like it's all been captured in precisely the right way.
As fans, we want this world to be celebrated - to be shown through the awe-struck lens of a camera as in love with the environments and as keen to capture their beauty as we are, rather than having the visuals be merely incidental canvases. And this trailer captures that essence better than anything.
And now to the negatives...
