6. Rogue Squadron
This is cheating a bit since three of them had lines in the original series but Rogue Squadron features prominently in some of the better stories in the Expanded Universe, where many of their members become major characters. Roque Squadron is a legendary team of the best pilots that the New Republic has to offer and they have participated in almost all the key battles of the Galactic Civil War. Rogue Squadron grew from the famous Red Squadron that won the battle of Yavin and Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles were its founding members. Antilles is the member most associated with Rogue Squadron as he became the New Republic's most famous pilot. Other core members of the group were second in command Tycho Celchu, comedic relief Wes Janson, and the dour Derek "Hobbie" Klivian.
