Michael Shanks easily stepped into the shoes of James Spader, taking over the role of Daniel Jackson from the Stargate film. It is fair to say that he made the role entirely his own from that point on. He appeared in a starring role for nine of SG-1's ten seasons, semi-leaving for the show's sixth season, though returning for several guest appearances.

Since the show wrapped, he has kept very busy. He appeared in both Atlantis and Universe, as well as a guest spot on Sanctuary with Amanda Tapping. He also appeared as Hawkman on Smallville.

With many other guest spots under his belt, he starred in the second season of Altered Carbon, playing Horace Axley. He is also a writer, director and theatre actor. His most recent project is as a guest spot in an episode of Project Blue Book.
