Stargate SG-1 Cast: Where Are They Now?

5. Don S. Davis

Stargate General Hammond
MGM

General Hammond was always a symbol of both strength and level-headed calm, often serving as something of a foil for O'Neill's wackier traits. Don S. Davis, who sadly passed away in 2008, was outstanding in the role.

Davis was another veteran of both television and science-fiction when he took on the role. He had appeared in Twin Peaks in the role of Major Garland Briggs. He was also Scully's father on The X Files, along with appearing in a couple of guest spots on MacGyver.

He passed away from a heart attack in 2008. As tribute, the character of General Hammond was killed off-screen from the same health issue, with a new ship being named after him, appearing in the pilot for Stargate Universe.

A soft-spoken and eloquent man, he brought a warmth and kindness to the role and will always be remembered for his wonderfuk portrayal.
