Steven Spielberg: EVERY Movie Ranked Worst To Best

23. The Terminal (2004)

ET The Extra Terrestrial
Dreamworks

Featuring a charming performance from frequent collaborator Tom Hanks, Spielberg's The Terminal is a human tragi-comedy of the highest order.

After his country erupts in civil war, Viktor (Hanks) finds himself unable to get back home and decides to live within the airport, much to the disdain of customs director Frank (Stanley Tucci).

Spielberg's ability to draw up endearing characters and blend laughs with tears is on full display here, creating a film that is at its core a sweet assessment of life and its hardships. It's quite as daring as the director's other works, but holds its own as a compelling character study.
