One of Spielberg's more recent films, The Post is a brilliant political drama through-and-through, detailing The Washington Post's efforts to publish the groundbreaking Pentagon Papers despite push-back from the White House.

With one of the director's best-ever casts, including Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Bob Odenkirk and Bruce Greenwood, The Post is a meticulous biopic with all the intelligence and thoughtfulness that characterises the best of Spielberg's films.

It might sometimes be over-stuffed with exposition in places, but when the performances, direction and detail is this good, it's easy to forget the little things.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
