Suicide Squad: 10 Major New Details You Need To Know About The Ayer Cut
5. Much Of Jared Leto's Joker Performance Remains "Unseen"
From the second that first official image was revealed, Jared Leto's Joker failed to really resonate with fans. Despite being an Oscar-winner, his take on the Clown Prince of Crime was almost immediately rejected thanks to some cosmetic decisions made to the character. What moviegoers ultimately saw of him was interesting, but mostly failed to impress.
Now, it's been made clear that there could be a good reason for that. "For sure character creation is a tightrope," Ayer begins. "I took inspiration from the current DC comics. I find it incredible it’s still such a topic 5 years later. My heart breaks for Jared - he did magnificent work. Most of it remains unseen."
This lines up with reports that Leto was furious with Warner Bros. for cutting almost all of his scenes (especially after he went method), and it's been said that Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix was the final nail in the coffin for him. However, getting to see his full, uncensored performance would be no bad thing, and it could even end up helping to change some minds!
After all, it's certainly a shame to think the actor never even got chance to really show us his Joker.
