Suicide Squad: 10 Major New Details You Need To Know About The Ayer Cut
3. A Different Role For Katana In That Final Battle
In movies which end up being heavily reshot, it's always fun to look back at the trailers for clues about what might have been. Justice League, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Fantastic Four are all noteworthy examples, but so too is Suicide Squad.
In one trailer, there was a very intriguing shot of Katana (a definite breakout character in the movie) as her eyes turned black. Given how limited her screentime was, fans have always wondered whether there were once bigger plans for Rick Flag's right hand, and Ayer would confirm that she was supposed to have a much larger role in that final battle against Enchantress.
"Enchantress takes her over with a tendril and she attacks the rest of the Squad," he teased, hinting at what sounds like a fairly major action scene for the character. Why Warner Bros. would scrap that is hard to say, but the sequence was massively changed once The Joker was removed, so chances are it was a moment which no longer fit in the VFX heavy battle.
