Suicide Squad: 12 Ways The Marketing Has Been Genius

3. The Music Tie-Ins Added Another Level

Remember when movies used to unashamedly have musical tie-ins from the hippest act of the day? And not just a studio-linked single track, but a full on CD? Well David Ayer does, because not only is Suicide Squad getting an album of music "inspired by the motion picture", but they're actually talking about it.

We've had a couple of the tracks released now, and while I'm not an overwhelming fan of any of them (my favourite would be twenty one pilots' Heathens though), they're an exciting retro side to the marketing that also convey a little further the film's tone, with a 90s grime pervasive. In the long run this is unlikely to "define" the movie or be the cause of massive box office success, but it's a strong auxilliary element to the hype or sure.

Thank goodness there's no Will Smith rap where he muses about the group being the patsies though.
