5. Task Force X Is Set Up Because Of Aliens

EW say that Suicide Squad exists in a post-Superman world, presumably still haunted by the events of Batman v Superman, including the appearance of and devastation caused by Doomsday.

Despite the fact that it was revealed that Lex Luthor was behind the terrorism attributed to Superman, the government clearly still has its suspicions and fears over others following in his footsteps. They are grappling "with how to respond the next time an alien visits Earth with less noble intentions than the Man of Steel".

Into that situation comes Amanda Waller, who hopes to channel the "lethal skills and superhuman powers" of the Squad to build a response force for when it happens. She doesn't initially get her own way.
