Like former Batman director Christopher Nolan, David Ayer clearly has a thing about casting the same people in all of his films. Actors Scott Eastwood, Jim Parrack, and Kevin Vance all appeared in his previous film Fury in 2014, but it doesn't end there.

Corina Calderon (who briefly plays El Diablo's doomed wife) was also in End Of Watch.

Kenneth Choi - who notably played Judge Ito in The People Versus OJ Simpson and who was in Ayer's Street Kings, has a cameo as a Yakuza boss in Katana's backstory.

And Jaime FitzSimons seems to be a lucky charm for Ayer: he was a technical consultant on Street Kings, End Of Watch and Prisoners (he's the man responsible for making sure the cop details are authentic), and he's had minor roles in all three of those, plus Sabotage, Fury and now Suicide Squad. He's basically David Ayer's John Ratzenberger.
