Suicide Squad: 8 Biggest Differences With Batman V Superman

6. Suicide Squad Will Have Proper Humour

This is possibly the most discussed issue surrounding the DC properties. Warner Bros. seem to have misjudged the success of the Dark Knight trilogy, taking itas evidence that people only want earnest takes on comic book properties. The truth is more nuanced - fans want earnest takes on sincere characters, like Batman. But for others (like Superman) that approach might be inappropriate.

The re-shuffling of Suicide Squad trailers since last year has been eye opening, as it shows that they are starting to finally pick up on the fan backlash against the lack of levity in their universe.

When the first trailer was released after Comic-Con, Suicide Squad looked like a big budget art film with almost no room for reflexivity. Two trailers later, DC are clearly in the process of recutting and reshaping the film as if to say "We have yuks aplenty, please don’t panic."

It's speculative at this stage whether or not the laughs will be on the increase. But if the news of reshoots and the constant tweaking of trailers is anything to go by, Warner are desperate to make sure that audiences think that this movie is a villain Avengers, rather than an even more depressing Batman V Superman.
