A simpler role for Batman in Suicide Squad which makes just as much sense is for the Dark Knight to simply be the obsession of Amanda Waller. This theory actually has its basis in a very early rumour which specified that Waller would be seen watching archive footage on Batman on the few security tapes which have managed to capture him in action in Gotham. While set photos have made it clear that Batman will have at least one action sequence in Suicide Squad, it could be that his role beyond that boils down only to CCTV footage. Waller hates metahumans and Batman in particular, so chances are that her obsession with the vigilante is what ends up serving as her main motivation and obsession in the movie. In fact, with some reports claiming that The Joker will end up staying in the basement of Belle Reve as a Hannibal Lecter type character who Waller and other select characters visit, it's been rumoured that she keeps him there in order to learn more about Batman.
