It’s too bad The Joker doesn’t actually get to interact with Task Force X in the final cut, aside from shooting at them. This wasn’t always the case, since he was meant to arrive before the climax and try to take Harley away, following the helicopter crash.

In a way it makes sense this was trimmed, since it came from a version where Joker was abusive, and she’s probably miffed about the whole "being thrown from a helicopter" thing. When he orders her to escape with him she refuses, wanting to stay with the team and finish the mission. The Joker soon pulls a smoke grenade and vanishes, which then leads to the showdown with Incubus.

It’s a pity it had to go since it proved such a memorable moment from the trailer, but with the context totally altered it wouldn't have made much sense for Harley to stay with the team.
