Suicide Squad: 9 Deleted Scenes That Would Have Definitely Improved The Film

3. Joker Pushes Harley From The Helicopter

The Deleted Scene: This one's more of an alternate version crushed in the edit (the whole behind-the-scenes story of Suicide Squad is really rather complicated), but a big one. After rescuing her, Joker isn't immediately doting on Harley and instead the pair argue before he pushes her out of the chopper in an attempt to kill her before it gets shot down.

Why It Would Have Improved The Film: What a difference some reordering makes. Joker's characterisation in the film was totally off, with him more a love interest than a proper manic presence, and little moments like this go a long way to presenting something more fitting of how the character's regarded and develops the Joker-Quinn relationship beyond OTT PDA. Spending a whole film hunting someone down only to try and kill them is exactly what you expect of Mr J.

So, Why Was It Cut? At some point in the development of Suicide Squad, the filmmakers became so enamoured with their characters they lost sight of them being villains. This is seen best in this Margot Robbie promotional video, but is very obvious in how the edges of characters have been sanded down in the film proper. And it looks like the Joker wasn't immune to that. Oh, the PG-13 thing probably didn't help either.
