Suicide Squad: 9 Deleted Scenes That Would Have Definitely Improved The Film

4. Flag And Moone's Relationship

The Deleted Scene: We only really get one show of the relationship between Rick Flag and June Moone in the movie (and that's mired in a confusing magic scene), so it's hardly surprising that several moments in the first act showing this in more detail were cut. Chiefly, there's the scene where he's reading out the Squad list to her heard in the trailers, and another where they go out on a date and actually show (gasp) chemistry.

Why It Would Have Improved The Film: Rick Flag was a rather brutish commander whose obsession with June felt misrepresented and ultimately rang false, especially when you consider his relationship was all part of Waller's grander scheme. Giving them a bit of time to breathe as a couple in what sounds like plot-centric scenes would give some real grounding to his quest. That says nothing of the effect on June, who in the movie is nothing more than a mousey, repressed suit who really only stands in the way of Cara Delevingne getting to do her weird dance.

So, Why Was It Cut? I'm inclined to say time, although it seems a bit more complicated than that given how essential it feels. It's likely that, as it doesn't involve the Task Force as an ensemble, it was deemed inessential, another show of smaller beats getting chipped away.
