Suicide Squad Blitz Trailer Delivers More Joker, More Harley, More Batman

...And it turned into a ballroom blitz.

After what felt like an agonising wait, the MTV Movie Awards has delivered the second official Suicide Squad trailer (remember the first Comic Conone wasn't actually intended for public consumption), and you can almost feel the hype being turned up.

Once again, the trailer is led by a great musical choice - Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz" - albeit after a more conventional modern opening, with the focus heavily on Harley Quinn andJared Leto's increasingly unhinged-feeling Joker. There's also a healthy slice of Bat in there, amidst rumours that he has a more substantial role than was initially suspected.

Obviously the big take-aways here are that Warner Bros are very much trying to tie this to Batman v Superman (at least in terms of ideology), and are refocusing on the idea that the team are definitely the bad guys after Deadshot's more ambiguous framing in the first trailer.

Leto's Joker gets better the more you see of him, regardless of the accusations of being over-blown (that's the point), and while Harley isn't quite the demented vision she's been painted as in the past, it's clear she's disturbed. You have to wonder why there was any need to show her in her underwear, but maybe it's a conscious comment on the general fanboy response to Harley over the years and her increasing sexualisation.

You know, that or sex.

We also got much more El Diablo here than before, with a definite hint that he's not as outright heinous as some of his team-mates, some more shots of Captain Boomerang working his ticket and Katana making sure everyone stays in line with her haunted sword. More of the same is definitely a good thing.
