Suicide Squad: Ranking All 11 Characters Revealed So Far
8. El Diablo
Like Harley Quinn, Warner Bros. have clearly drawn heavily from New 52 for Jay Hernandez's El Diablo. Unlike Harley Quinn, this was probably the smartest thing they could have done.
As much as having a character who got his costume from a festival dress-up box might have been fun, the latest version of the fire manipulating ex-criminal - Chato Santana - is a far more accessible in point. And it gives the film-makers further opportunity to play around with their tattoo fetish.
But it's not perfect. For a start he's effectively wearing a name-tag. On a baseball jacket, which makes him look roughly as menacing as Danny Zuko.
You can see the thinking behind having El Diablo as a gang member - surely that's what the Varsity jacket is signifying, rather than him just being a jock - but it's a little awkward. And you have to wonder why they just didn't go full Santana and have him walking around everywhere looking menacing with his top off.
