Suicide Squad: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
2. Diablo
After a strong opening thanks to probably the best backstory, Diablo sort of fades a little while he wrestles with his conscience as the rest of the Squad burst the henchmen and try and get to Waller's office to unwittingly save her.
That goes doubly because none of the Eyes Of The Adversary seem all that bothered that he's just walking around being a bit of a hippie, which is pretty baffling.
Jay Hernandez is excellent, going from a picture of removed restraint to struggling with his inner demons, literally and then "owning" his crimes, as Harley inexplicably demands he do. Every change feels earned, every emotion authentic and his powers are incredible too.
Ultimately, his transformation into the demon is a little empty (and a lot silly), since he gets the upper-hand and then immediately surrenders it, but at least we get to see the heroic sacrifice that he's basically written to make.
