Suicide Squad: Ranking The Characters By Anticipation
11. El Diablo
Played By: Jay Hernandez. Who's Jay Hernandez? He's starred in films like Friday Night Lights, the first two Hostel films, World Trade Center, and alongside Jennifer Carpenter in 2008's Quarantine. He's also appeared on shows like ABC's short-lived Last Resort, Nashville, and the currently-airing The Expanse on SyFy. Hernandez has described his Chato Santana - the third person in DC's history to take on the name El Diablo - as being a member of the team who would rather do anything but be out fighting. Unfortunately for the character, his flame-wielding powers are an obvious advantage to the team, who will undoubtedly push him into using them. His take seems to fall in line with Santana's representation in the comics, a character whose remorse over killing innocents led to his own willing incarceration. On the surface, he'll go a long way in contrasting the different types of villains that make up the Squad, helping shade in the necessary grey area that will allow audiences to root for the team, but, like Slipknot, it also feels like he's one of the most potentially expendable members of the group.
