Sundance 2021: 20 Films You Need To Know About

10. The Pink Cloud

Though filmed back in 2017, it's impossible to watch this Brazilian sci-fi thriller without considering its accidental prescience, where the world is thrown into a global lockdown after a pink cloud, which kills anyone who comes into contact with it, blankets the globe.

This is especially challenging for Giovana (Renata de Lélis) and Yago (Eduardo Mendonça), whose one-night stand turns into a more prolonged arrangement due to the enforced lockdown.

The result is a film that's by turns humourous and disturbing, hopeful and sad, but never loses sight of the human condition and how thoroughly the lockdown experience has affected us all - if unintentionally so.

The Pink Cloud is awaiting distribution.
