Super Bowl 2019: Ranking Every Trailer From Worst To Best
1. The Twilight Zone
The best trailer of the entire Super Bowl goes to The Twilight Zone for taking a bold, inventive approach and crafting what may be one of the most compelling TV spots in history.
The choice to start the ad appearing as part of the actual Super Bowl broadcast is brilliant in that not only is it a killer hook to get every viewer's eyes back on the screen just in time for them to reveal what the ad really is, it also plays perfectly into The Twilight Zone's entire motif to exploit the form like this. Peele's subsequent narration is pitch-perfect, sampling bits and pieces of actual Rod Serling dialogue and repackaging it into something that feels decidedly of The Twilight Zone.
Everything about this spot is pretty much perfect. From the aspect ratio change, to the wonderful use of space and lighting in the cinematography, to Peele's smirk to the camera, to that iconic Twilight Zone theme music creeping in during the final moments. It may not be the flashiest trailer of the Super Bowl but it is the absolute best.
