Super Bowl 2019: Ranking Every Trailer From Worst To Best
7. Alita: Battle Angel
Unlike all of the other movie trailer present at this year's Super Bowl, the spot for Alita: Battle Angel serves as a last-ditch attempt at selling the film to viewers as not only a film but a cinematic 3D experience that has to be seen on the big screen.
Honestly, this direct approach works exceedingly well for the property though. The spot is essentially a forty-second-long reel of some of the film's most dazzling effects shots and it's (at the very least) incredibly eye-catching. Fox has been busy over the last month-or-so trying to push this would-be-blockbuster the extra mile, with tons of on-hand involvement from both James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez, in an attempt to sell what may very well be their last theatrical release of this size before the Disney buyout.
It remains to be seen if it will work, but this ad certainly doesn't hurt. Putting the sci-fi epic before as many eyes as humanly possible and spending forty-seconds trying to dazzle them into submission is a unique approach, and considering how good the film is(http://whatculture.com/film/alita-battle-angel-review-7-ups-3-downs), here's hoping it works.
